This gown looks like a much prettier version of Merida’s dress. I recommend it.I was worried about the size, so I got the Medium for my average-sized almost-7 year old. It fits well at the waist & arms but is long: it drags the floor enough for her to step on it. But it’s okay, since she’s growing so fast, so it should be fine in 6 months. She said the sleeves are a little itchy, too, but not enough for her to not want to wear it.The fabric quality is much better than Halloween costumes with a thin crushed velvet. The crown, though, is cheap plastic & is tiny, better suited to a toddler’s head. The gold in the belt & cape aren’t that hard, scratchy fabric, but a soft tulle. It’s nice. The belt has to be safety-pinned in place because it just slides right on down the silky dress. This is the nicest quality dress-up dress you can get without spending major bucks. And it doesn’t have any tacky glittery junk or cartoon princess emblazoned on it, so that’s a huge plus in my book!

We were planning to attend a group event at Medieval Times and my 3 year old wanted to wear a costume. Since the venue allows them, I let her pick out a few on Amazon. She normally wears a 4t/5t or XS (4/5) and this costume only came in a size small. I ordered it knowing it would be too large. When it came it was too big but she absolutely adored it. It’s somewhat more blue greenish in real life but is still such a gorgeous color! Since it’s made of a stretchy sort of velvet I knew it would be pretty easy to take it in a little bit to make it fit. The skirt length was waaaaay too long and since it’s such a cheap costume I wasn’t worried about resale or saving it. So I just cut about 2 inched straight off the bottom. The material didn’t even need to be hemmed. I took in the waist and the bodice at the shoulders a little, and the dress fit well enough for her to wear it. The crown was perfect and didn’t fall off once, and she didn’t want to take it off either! She especially loved the gold cape. The cape is super soft and fine, and attaches to the dress with velcro at the shoulders. I thought the little pad that go over the velcro were a great touch – this way the velcro won’t snag the cape when it’s not attached. The only issue we had with the dress was the belt – no matter what I did it just would not stay in place. I ended up safety pinning it to the middle of her dress just to keep it in the right area.Overall, I highly recommend this costume to anyone looking for a medieval type of dress. All of the knights and princesses at Medieval Times loved her outfit. <3

Very nice costume for the price. It looked and felt nicer than expected. the only complaint is that the crown didn’t fit my daughter and it broke soon after she opened the costume but she had a few other crowns of her own to choose from so we weren’t concerned about it. The cape and belt are not attached. the belt just ties on and the cape attaches by Velcro on the shoulders.

I bough an XLt this for my 12 year, who normally wears a size 12, and needed a costume for.a Renaissance Day at school. I was not at all impressed with it. The material was cheap costume material and the size seemed to run small, especially through the back. She kept saying it was itchy as well. The little cape is simple a square of material that is held together with velcro, and hung down to her bottom. If she were 5 and enjoyed dressing up this would be a great little dress-up/Halloween costume but this is not a high quality costume by any means.

This costume looks great, and my daughter got called a princess when she wore it to the Ren Faire, which is always a plus. The detailing is very nice, and it feels more like real clothing than a cheap costume. Unfortunately, one of the seams started coming loose the first day she wore it. Also, the sash, which is a separate piece, wants to ride up, which looks bad with the medieval dropped-waistline of the dress (we safety-pinnned it). And the skirt was SO long! I chopped a good three or four inches off the bottom, and my daughter isn’t short.

I got this for my 10 year old daughter. It looks absolutely adorable on her.But the neck and sleeves are scratchy and bother her, so she has to have a shirt on underneath. We live in Florida and will be attending an outdoor festival, so this may make her way too hot unless we are lucky with the weather. The crown doesn’t bend outward far enough, so it doesn’t really look like the picture. When wearing the headband in a comfortable spot, the bottom of the crown is pushed up because it seems to be designed so that the crown goes below the top of the headband, sitting on the front of the forehead. Unfortunately, the crown is way too small for that, and there is only maybe an inch between the crown and the headband, so the headband would have to be right on the hairline for that to work, and headbands don’t work that way. It would have been better to make it as a comb pick that slides into the hair, if they didn’t want to make the crown sit higher or make it long enough to go in front of the forehead.

This product was nice. My little one complained of itchiness so we put clothes under it. Used for a medieval dinner.
