The mask is a good START, but it could easily be so much better with a little attention to colors and a few pieces of black mesh. My main gripe is that you really need to be prepared with some acrylic paint and brushes to make this mask look like the stock photos. I wish I took a picture before using paint, but I will tell you that the teeth were a washed out orange that nearly matched the orange color of the mask. I used a thin layer of yellow paint that resulted in a good yellow-amber color reminiscent of the candle-light glow that you might expect with a real jack-o-lantern. Standing more than 2ft away from the mask, the “green” rotting tears in the pumpkin flesh looked like a faded black/brown. I used a bit of green paint to add some contrast to these areas. The stem color was almost identical to the torn flesh color, so I added a bit of light brown to creat a true dry/rotted wood color. The bright red color of the gums around the teeth looks a bit too cartoonish, although that may just be personal preference. I darkened those areas a bit and completely blacked out the gum color in the corners of the mouth.Besides inaccurate/inconsistent colors, the manufacturer could have made this mask better by using a see-through mesh behind the eye sockets to conceal the user’s eyes. A pair of black pantyhose and a few dabs of hot glue solves this problem quickly. For what it’s worth, they do include a piece of black cloth that you can strap around your neck/mouth which will conceal your mouth when “animating” the mask. It’s uncomfortable and hard to breath through…again, the pantyhose solves this problem as well. The mask isn’t exactly comfortable, particularly at the bridge of your nose, but I don’t know if I’ve EVER had a comfortable halloween mask. Certainly wearable for the night. Also, remember that this is only a half mask that does not cover your head.Overall, the mask has serious potential and after the tweaks, it looks great. Definitely would recommend purchasing as long as you’re willing to put in a bit of work when it arrives.

FANTASTIC! Stop looking and order this mask now- might be enough time- mine came the next day and I love it! I never wear or but masks for costumes. I have many different costumes, some I wear in the middle of a dinner party, or break out in the woods while camping with friends. Many coworkers say I’m always wearing a costume ha! Look- here’s the deal- it came in a nicely made protective plastic but simple package. I’m 45, 5’9” 210 lbs. when I dressed as Han Solo; folks immediately said, “great family guy Han Solo!” – this thing for me great! Mouth moves with my movement. Yeah- you have to exaggerate your jay movements to get a more dramatic effect but it’s a mask dude! It doesn’t take batteries or have a tiny microprocessor- it’s just a plastic and rubber mask-BUT It’s really really cool and creepy- like scared myself in the mirror creepy!!Doing a headless horseman costume for our Halloween Camp out with friends!I’ll send pics- but you all reading this better stop watching videos and stop reading the one star reviews of some guy who leaves out using pruning shears to open the packaging on his mask and then say how it was all cut up and smashed when he opened it. – you know what I mean! But it! Buy it! Buy it!

The material around the jaw is hard and stiff… Out of the package, you can barely open it with your hands and full upper body, much less your mouth when speaking. However, I found a solution: In order to get the jaw to actually open, you need to PRY it with force, then stuff something in the jaw to hold it open for a while (I used a roll of duct tape). I left it for a week, and it was loosened enough for use (fair warning, there was some tearing, but not enough to be noticable.)

I didn’t have to use the enclosed foam, the mask fit my head enough to operate the mouth, it definitely puts quite a bit of pressure on your nose when you open the mouth though….too many times of that and it’ll probably leave a mark. The mouth cover unfortunately is made small enough for a child to be able to use….way too tight for me I’ll use a black neck gaiter instead.I’m still quite happy with it and look forward to scaring my grandkids 😆

Read other reviews, you’ll see its a common issue. Even with foam inserts, it is painful on the nose. It might not hurt as bad if the thing wasn’t so stiff. Put of the box, I thought mine was defective with how hard it was to open the jaw. Being a pretty thin plastic, hand prying it had me worrying I was going to break it. Loosened up a little, but after 4 or 5 times moving it using my jaw had my nose hurting a lot.Going to try and lever it open over night or a few days. Saw someone suggested that. See if that helps. If not, guess as a static mask, it’ll be ok. Just a bit of a let down.

Very difficult to get the supplied extra pad pieces in the right places in order be able to open mouth. Also it has to fit tight on top of head and underneath chin, but this all causes your nos to be really tight also, which hurts the bridge of nose immensely, therefore can only wear brief periods before needing a break….BUT THIS MASK IS GREAT FOR THE SPOOKY AND SCARY FACTOR!!!

Purchased 2 of these masks for my boyfriend and I. One mask worked perfectly while the other was super stiff and jaw would not open. We tried adjusting and swapping lasks still did not work.

The media could not be loaded. I believe it’s definitely worth the money, but beware; the mask moves off of the pressure on your Nose/Upper Mouth. And that tension sucks. But the looks, joy, and horror you’ll put on people faces is worth it.
