   Costume material was thin poly that was a little “fuzzy” feeling for dimension, and no shininess. There was good attention to detail (collar, flowers, fringe, etc.) and together it all works. It looks way better than most of the “bagged” costumes you might find at Party City, etc.I got a large for my size 7/8 8-y-o daughter, and there was room to spare, but I think a medium would have been to small. The waist is gathered elastic, so there is definitely some size flexibility. The sleeves were long, so I just hand stitched them up in the inside 2-3 inches. The waistband front panel is attached from the bottom and had a tendency to fall forward in the front and not stay standing, so I tacked that up, too. Iron-in interfacing might work too, but I’m not sure about ironing the polyester. That wasn’t that hard and for the price it sure beats trying to sew something! Even though the fabric isn’t the greatest, the overall effect of the costume is very good. It will have wrinkles so let it hang a few days before you need to wear it if you can. We added a gun, boots, a wig, and hat, and were good to go. It served us well for living history night and Halloween.

   Funny story…she actually wanted to be Orphan Annie, but when we searched for a costume this came up and she insisted that she have it. We are from Ohio and it was great learning about Annie Oakley with her. This lady paid off the mortgage on the family farm by the time she was 15! If you are looking for a female hero, this is for you. The costume is made very well and fit nicely. She was able to wear some layers with it. For reference my daughter is 7 and wears a 7-8 in girls (60 lbs). Thinner material with a velcro in the back. Embroidery and stitching was a higher quality than I expected. Durable enough that she wears it to play in. Pretty accurate to what Annie would have actually worn.

   My daughter looked like the perfect Annie Oakley for her school’s Living Wax Museum. Fabric is a bit papery, but it’s a costume so not a big deal. She is about a size 10 and we ordered a large – fit perfectly.

   I purchased this costume from Amazon “preowned” for a little over 10 bucks and what a bargain it is! It fits my 5’4 110lb daughter really well and she was delighted with how “western” it looked. The package only included a dress but I was able to find a decent priced toy rifle, hat and moccasins on Amazon as well. The fringe on the dress isn’t as full as it appears in the photos but with a quick steaming, I was able to get it to lie flat and look better. Overall, I think this was a good purchase for the price and I’d definitely utilize Amazon’s “second life” program again.

   I would be returning this in a heartbeat if we didn’t need it tonight for an event at school. It had obviously been at least tried on and returned because it had several spots that had what looked like dog hair, there was long, dark human hair, and the costume is completely rumpled and wrinkled.Also, if you are sensitive to your fingers (her hands are just slightly dry from Fall time weather) snagging on fabric, like my daughter is, this costume is not for you. It feels like a very cheap stuffed animal from the fair.Overall, I am very bummed that this is not a better quality costume. Oh, and also the hat that came with it was smashed on the top. My daughter fixed that the best she could before I was able to take a photo.
