I purchased this costume for Pioneer Day for my second grader. It is the standard horrible material of cheap costumes. Any mom knows what I am talking about. Pictures always make costumes seem like you are getting actual material instead of the weird textured plastic. That said, it served the purpose for a few hours. The coon skin hat was equally cheap but, again, was fine for a few hours.Regarding sizing: I purchased the large for my 4″4″ 8 year old who weighs 85 pounds. It was perfect – but no room for growth. He wears a Youth Large normally, so the fit was as expected.

I bought this costume solely for a school project on Daniel Boone. The large size fit my 95-ish pound, 11 year old with no room to spare which was okay because we only needed it for this one day. He did wear a tshirt underneath. Costume comes with shirt, belt, powder horn, and hat. No pants, no shoes. Overall happy with purchase.

We used this for Pioneer Day at school. Quality is what I’d expect from a Halloween costume. My son wears an 8/10. I got the large since other reviews suggested it runs small. This costume definitely does run small. Luckily we only needed it for one day. It fits more like a 7/8. It was close but it’s cute and did the job!

The shirt is very thin, made of polyester. The better fabric choice could’ve made big difference and my boys would’ve loved and wore it more for being a “real Davy Crockett shirt”.. it could’ve been better….True to size.

Size up!The costume is cute. It’s really cute. I don’t expect it to hold up (though for nearly $40, $10 more than the medium, it should!), and it’s just right for my son’s wax museum day in 2nd grade as Davy Crockett.However. I ordered the large, based on reviews, and I’m so glad I did. My son is newly eight, roughly 51″ tall, and roughly 66 pounds. He is not huge for a 2nd grader. He wears a size eight, and sometimes, that’s big on him (large in the waist, wide in a shirt). The large costume size, however, fits just right. The sleeves come down to just where they should on his arms, to his wrist. If he were taller, this would be too small. If you are ordering this, go up one size.Good luck to your Davy Crocketts, King of the Wild Frontier!

My little guy has a wax museum project, he’s going to be Merriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clarke, I’m not creative so needed something ready made. This is close enough! A Colonial hat would be more accurate but at $30 something as it is for a 20 min presentation there’s no way I’m spending another $10 (min) for that. My guy is very short for his age, he’s 8. Some of his pants are 5/6 or 7/8. This says Large?! For 10/12? My 10 year old is also small for his age and I don’t know of this would fit him! Maybe it’d fit tight? I’m glad I got the large. If your kid is normal sized I’d consider a teen or adult costume if from this company. It’s really cute but Halloween costume quality (which is what I expected) this with khakis will be perfect. Boot covers aren’t included but I also expected that. It’s good enough I can hand it down to whichever poor kid gets this assignment next year!

Ordered a large for my average 8 year old. Fits perfectly! Cute!

I got this costume for my daughter’s presentation of Davy Crockett she needed for school. She is a small 10 year old, about 59 pounds and got her a size Medium and it fit her fine. It came with a pullover fringe shirt, coonskin cap, belt and powder horn. The hat she said was a little itchy when worn. The belt was a little flimsy and didn’t want to stay up in the belt loop so I had to use a bobby pin to keep it from coming loose. I tied the string of the powder horn so it hung at a good place on her hip. I added a rifle my husband made and some brown boots and her look was complete.
