Yes, it’s big. I ordered the size 2T-4T (the label actually says 3-4 Toddler) & it’s too long on my very tall & thin almost 4 year old. At 47 months old, 42″ tall & 33 lbs, I’d say that there’s a good 1-2″ in length that the costume could be altered. It’s also a little loose around her torso, but not bad enough to warrant sending it back. I’m not a seamstress nor do I have a desire to be, so I plan to fix the length issue for Halloween by putting a belt around my daughter’s waist & then pulling the costume up & over the belt so that it’s mostly hidden. The green fabric that is around the waist area of the costume nicely hides the belt.Other than the overly-generous sizing (I’d say the 2-4T is more like a size 4/5…except the sleeve length, which fits my daughter perfectly), I’m very happy w/ this costume & like it better than the $50 Disney costume (and my wallet likes this costume better than the $70 “super deluxe” mermaid costume that my daughter wanted).

I read the reviews posted here, checked out the manufacturers’ website so I could measure my daughter and order the correct size. My daughter is 5 and wears a 6/6x. Upon analyzing her measurements I ordered her the Toddler 4-6. My package arrived within 3 days (I had it shipped to my mother for our upcoming trip to Disney World). The package indicted it was a Medium 4T-6T. However, and I didn’t realize this until the 2nd time she wore this to visit with the princesses, that the actual costume was a SMALL 2T-3T. At first I was upset (b/c I’d like for her to have it for more than our one week vacation), but it fit her perfectly (just like a mermaid). My daughter is TALL for her age and the bottom of the “fins” came just above her ankle, which really was perfect for us since she was walking around Magic Kingdom wearing this. I didn’t contact shipping company or Amazon to complain b/c she wore it, it fits beautifully and it definitely made my little Ariel’s dreams come true. Comes with a headband that is cheaper than anything but my daughter still loved it and insisted on wearing it even after having her hair done at Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. Does NOT come with Boa despite what you see on package design cover or the advertised picture.

My daughter is 2 1/2, but is very tall and wears a size 3T-4T (mostly 4T at this point). This was her first year asking for a specific costume for Halloween, but the joy and awe when we opened the package was worth far more than I could have ever imagined. The fit and length on her is perfect, just like the picture. The tail hits he floor and stands out, thanks to some stiff fabric lining, which both looks like a tail and allows her to walk (although she does have to walk fairly slowly and I may pin the skirt a bit higher for certain events so her knees are more free to walk/climb/run/etc. The headband is adorable and seems comfortable for her, but the little shells slide around a fair amount and tend to fall down in random directions as she moves and plays. I’m sure this makes them more customize-able for a pre-fab costume and a dab of glue or something could make them stay if you wanted to go through the effort.I was concerned about the sequins and she seems to battle a bit about being fascinated enough with them to want to peel them off, and wanting the dress to stay perfect enough to be gentle with them, so for now they are fine – even after she played with the dress on for an entire evening. The packaging specifically says to spot clean only and to absolutely not put it in the machine, which makes sense for any garment that has bits glued on. While it may not be durable enough for a daily dress-up outfit, I think it is an excellent costume for Halloween, and maybe a few extra events that may occur in the short period of time before little ones grow out of it 🙂

I ordered this for my 3 year old in a size 3-4. It fits really well, maybe just a smidge too long but nothing major. I ordered it from Amazon, with my prime membership I got the 2 day shipping and it arrived a day early! Yay!It is SO much nicer than I thought it would be. I paid $12 and some change and it said right in the manufacturers description that this is a bargain basement cousume. (Ok, so I paraphrased but still) the quality was much better than I thought it would be. I’m really happy with that. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is that the chest area is rouched, like pleated. I don’t think any toddler clothing should make them look like their chests are larger. That’s ridiculous. It’s not too bad, like to the point of being obscene or anything but I would have been happier if it was just flat. Also, my daughter said it was itchy when she tried it on but I’ll put a shirt on under it next time and that should take care of it.The head band is cheap and we probably won’t use it. The little shells slip off so I may use them to make her another type of hair decoration.EDIT: I ended up taking the shells off of the cheap headband and hot gluing them to single prong alligator clips instead. It worked out much better. I also had to use double sided tape to pull the dress up a bit because it was too long for my daughter. She’s 3 but a bit tall for her age. The little ruffle hid the tuck well though. The little sequins did begin to fall off, I’ve been finding them around the house but it’s not really noticeable.EDIT#2: After wearing the costume for 3 hours in her preschool class the bottom was pretty well worn. The double sided tape I used to tuck it up must have come unstuck because she was walking on the tail. I think we may just toss it. Though I should mention no seams ripped and the sequins are still mostly intact. I’m still finding them though I still can’t see where they’re missing from the costume.
